
Bokashi is a Japanese word that means “fermented organic matter.” Bokashi composting is fermenting organic waste to create a quick, nutrient-rich compost in the garden to grow vegetables.
This practice has been used for centuries in Japan; however, Japanese Agronomist Dr. Teruo Higa perfected the process in 1968 by recognizing the best combination of microorganisms to complete the fermented compost quickly.
The Kitchen E-Z Garbage Gobbler is a two-bucket system, one inside the other. The top bucket has a lid with a special strap for easy lid removal and holes in it to allow any liquid to drain into the bottom bucket.

The EM-Liquid will accumulate in the bottom of the Kitchen Garbage Gobbler bottom bucket. If your table scraps are fruit-like apples, excess EM-Liquid will be generated, and the EM-Liquid must be drained often. You may use the EM-Liquid straight, not diluted, as a drain cleaner or weed killer.
How to use EM-Liquid as a weed killer
It is typically recommend using the EM-Liquid within a few hours of collecting it. If you store it for longer than a day or two it will go off – you will tell by the foul smell.
It may take a week or more if you start getting any EM-Liquid. Once it begins to form, you will usually collect some every few days. It depends on what is being put in the Kitchen Garbage Gobbler. If you are getting very little liquid, it is ok.
The EM-Liquid is loaded with microbes and nutrients. If you dilute the liquid 1 teaspoon of juice with 2-3 quarts of water and then use it to water your indoor or outdoor plants, they will get the benefit of the nutrients and microbes. The plants should show in short order improved blooms and growth.

EM-Liquid is a beneficial by-product of Kitchen E-Z Garbage Gobbler, and it takes no extra work to produce. The primary use for EM-Liquid is for feeding plants by adding it to the soil. Getting the microbes down to the root level of the plants produces fantastic results for plant growth, health, and vitality. Simply put, plant roots thrive on them. Compost tea I different; it is fertilizer and can be used as a foliar spray or a soil additive. Compost tea differs from EM-Liquid in its microbial makeup.
Dig a hole or trench approximately 8 – 10 inches deep. Add the waste and mix in some soil. Burying it between rows of plants or in various spots around the garden and yard or burying it about a month ahead of planting time are the best methods for introducing the EM-Solid into the garden.
