STYROFOAM SHREDDER … DIY

At the Sustainable Living Center we are looking for ways to limit material waste, clean the environment, and reduce living costs. The DIY Styrofoam shredder is designed specifically for mulching all types foam, from Styrofoam to expanded polystyrene,. It can mulch scrap foam packaging if it is pre-cut to fit in the processor.

Needed Parts that can be obtain from Craigslist …… if possible

• Electric Motor from a Scrap Washer ….. Craigslist = Free
• Leaf Blower ….. Craigslist =$10 – $20
• Bulk Tote Bags ….. Craigslist =$5 – $20
• 6″ Plastic Pipe ….. Craigslist =$5 – $20
• 1/2 inch Plywood ….. purchase

The end product, which is basically small 1/8 to 1/4” foam ‘chips’, can be easily bagged and stored for later use such as for loose fill insulation or to build a Tsunami Home.
