Depoe Bay WorldMark Resort is 8 mile from the Sustainable Living Center.  Depoe Bay is situated in the whale-watching capital of the Oregon Coast. A visit here is your ticket to sunsets, romantic walks and fine dining with vast views of the ocean and the rugged, wild coastline.

But don’t take our word on it—the gray whales that make Depoe Bay their home 10 months of the year know a good thing when they see it. The fishing’s great (boats leave every hour, weather permitting). There are old-growth forests to discover, tidal pools to explore and “spouting horns” to marvel at.

This is the coastal experience as it should be—intimate, refreshing, beautiful and full of nature’s drama. And you’ve got the best seats in the house.

Coyote Rock RV Resort & Marina

Coyote Rock RV Resort & Marina is located on the banks of the beautiful Siletz River just 2 miles up the river from the Sustainable Living Center.  The historical landmark of Coyote Rock sits looking out on the natural loveliness of wooded hills where deer and other forest creatures abound.

It is the home to some of the finest fishing in the country, and the spring and fall chinook runs on the beautiful Siletz river are well known. The Siletz River, originally Silis meaning “black bear”, is approximately 90 miles long, winding its way from the Coast Range down the Gorge and its rugged canyons, past the rapids and boulders, through the shallows with pebbled bottoms, down through pretty valleys with timbered hills into the ebb and flow of tidewater and finally to the Siletz Bay and the sea.

Camping – Walk to the Ocean

Beverly Beach is 14 miles from the Sustainable Living Center.  It is a popular for a reason! Like magic, a well-known walkway goes under highway 101 and emerges to the long expanse of sandy beach extending from Yaquina Head (you can see the lighthouse from here) to the headlands of Otter Rock. When the weather cooperates, kites color the air and whip in the wind. Bring a bucket and build a sand castle! Surfers often head to the north beach, while folks looking for fossils head south.

A few steps from the ocean you’ll find the forest-sheltered campground. Giant, wind-sculpted trees and nurse logs surround the campsites strung along pebbly Spencer Creek. There is a Visitors Information Center located near the registration booth where you can also purchase firewood and a few souvenirs. The children’s playground is located next to the program area. The day use picnic area is a grassy spot protected from summer winds. The day use also contains a yurt group meeting hall. It’s hard to believe all this is a few minutes’ drive from the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Yaquina Head and other prime attractions.
