Oregon has 360 miles of coastline – that’s 360 miles of crabbing.
Dropping crab pots for Dungeness or red rock crab is often done by boat, but crabbing from a dock or shore can be successful, too.
Many marinas and stores on the coast rent crab pots and even small boats for crabbing in the bays.
For $10 (if you are an Oregon resident), you may purchase an Oregon crabbing license valid for one year.
Bring your license to 82 Siletz Hwy, Lincoln, City, and a valid credit card. We will loan you one (1) crab trap, bucket, and crab gauge for 24 hours.
If you do not have a valid credit card (not a debit card), you can leave a $50 deposit to ensure we get our trap returned. Credit cards will not be charged if the trap, bucket, and gauge are returned.
You do have to furnish your own bait. We recommend chicken drumsticks.
We expect a donation of one (1) Dungeness legal crab every 24 hours you have our trap.
You will be given a second chance if you do not catch crabs the first time. If you do not catch any the second time, there will be no third time.
We have to eat also.
The “Catch Dinner” report is established to have crabbers who crab these bays, preort what they are catching. These “Catch Dinne These sites will be on Facebook, therefore anybody can join and post and comment their crabbing experience.
Species availability by area
Please post the date, number, kinds of crabs you are catching, not general statements.
