I have lost 30 lbs and plan to lose another 100 lbs. I am 83 and do not take any prescribed medications except over-the-counter … Advil. I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and cannot walk or exercise. I am basically wheelchair-bound, but I have lost weight, reduced my type 2 diabetes forecast, reduced my blood pressure, reduced my inflammation, increased my “good” cholesterol, and increased my life expectancy by following the Sustainable Eating Lifestyle.
Technically it is called Early Time-Restricted Eating (eTRE). eTRE is a way of eating that focuses on the timing of eating. Instead of limiting the types of food or number of calories you consume, this way restricts the amount of time I can spend eating.
A person on early time-restricted eating will only eat during specific hours of the day. Outside of this period, they will fast.
It starts with three meals during the eating window for four weeks—no snacks between meals or anytime. Then reduce the eating window time as I only eat two meals a day by deleting the evening meal—that is why they call it the Early Time-Restricted Eating.
During the eating window DO NOT EAT MORE THAN 2000 CALORIES or you will not lose any weight.
The objective is to reduce the eating window to two ((2) meals before 3 PM.
Having diabetes means a problem in your body that causes sugar to stay in your blood. This is called high blood sugar. Over time, high blood sugar can cause problems in many parts of the body.
Results of the A1c test in 2017 and will be tested before the end of 2020. All of my tests are done at Kaiser Skyline in Salem, Oregon.

An A1c test measures the percentage of hemoglobin molecules that have sugar attached to them. The A1c test also gives you an average estimate of your daily blood sugar.
This result uses the same units as a glucose meter. So if your A1c result is 7%, that means that 7% of your hemoglobin molecules have sugar attached to them.
And your estimated average blood sugar level is 154.
This test is different from other tests because it shows your average blood sugar level over 2 to 3 months. And the results also show how well your treatment plan is working. My goal is to keep your A1c level within a safe range.
I gave a sample of blood from my arm. The test measures the types of cholesterol and other fats in your blood.
They include HDL, the “good” cholesterol… and LDL, the “bad” cholesterol, which is part of my total cholesterol, as well as triglycerides, another type of fat in your blood.

Your body needs these fats to build cells, make hormones, and store energy, but having too much cholesterol can cause problems.
It can lead to heart disease … and even to a heart attack or stroke. Knowing your cholesterol levels can help your doctor determine your risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
But it’s not just about cholesterol. Your doctor will also use other things to determine your risk … like your age, sex, and blood pressure. Then you and your doctor can talk about whether you need to lower your risk and the best ways to do that.
My Cancer Risk
Prostate cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers globally and is only diagnosed in males. More than 70 percent of men over the age of 80 have some quantity of cancer cells in their prostate.
Prostate cancer is cancer that occurs in the prostate. The prostate is a small walnut-shaped gland in males that produces the seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. Many prostate cancers grow slowly and are confined to the prostate gland, which may not cause serious harm. However, while some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may need minimal or even no treatment, other types are aggressive and can spread quickly.
Factors that can increase your risk of prostate cancer include:
Older age. Your risk of prostate cancer increases as you age. I am 83
Family history. If a blood relative, such as a parent, sibling, or child, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, your risk may be increased. I have a father and brother with Prostate Cancer.
Obesity. I am 130 lbs overweight. People who are obese may have a higher risk of prostate cancer. In obese people, the cancer is more likely to be more aggressive and more likely to return after initial treatment.
A prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen in the blood. PSA is released into a man’s blood by his prostate gland. Healthy men have low amounts of PSA in the blood. The amount of PSA in the blood typically increases as a man’s prostate enlarges with age. PSA may increase because of inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis) or prostate cancer.
