Free Use of Crab Traps for Children on Oregon Coast

Kids have a  free Kids Free Fest scheduled on Sun, December 12, 2021, to learn how to catch, clean, and cook Crab for dinner.

We need Kids between the ages of 8 – 16 to catch Crabs on Sun December 12,  2021, between 8:00 AM and Dark.

  • Children under 12 are allowed Crab without a license all year long.  
  • Children 12 or older must have an Oregon $10 2021 year license available. at Bi-Mart or Fred Mayer.
  • An eight-year-old child should be able to handle our Crab Trapper Trap.

The Sustainable Living Center of Oregon furnishes a Free Crab Trapper Set – consisting of one (1) Kid’s Crab Trapper Trap, Bucket, Crab Gauge, location, and instructions – for up to three hours.   They can Crab at Siletz Bay or Depoe Bay.  For more info, CLICK HERE  

Each child’s family makes a refundable deposit for the Crab Sets and provides bait.  The kids have to provide the bait. The bait can be any meat, but dark, raw chicken works best.   There is no limit to the number of Crab sets with a deposit per family. (The deposit ensures we get our Crab sets back, and there is no charge unless the Crab Set not returned.)  The deposit may be a credit/debit card, or cash.

If desired, we will teach the kids how to clean and cook the Crab for $2.50/Crab to provide a Crab Dinner for their family and take their picture to be posted @  

No limit to the number we clean and cook. 

Volunteers are needed to handle out traps and clean and cook Crab.
